One of the best things that I incorporated into this school year is a weekly folder that goes home every Wednesday that communicate with the parents about what their child accomplished in the past week. I call it our Owl Folder.
Every Wednesday, I pass out all of the work that I graded from the past week and we record it on our Week in Review Sheet
When they are done filling out the Week in Review paper, they staple the test behind so their parents can look more in depth over the assessments in order to help their child at home over the week.
Not only does this folder hold me accountable to get all of my grading done in a timely fashion, but it makes conferencing very easy because the parents know exactly how their child is doing each week- so there are no surprises!
I have customized and changed the week in review sheets and the other papers in this Parent-Teacher Communication bundle since I made it in August, and I have had several teachers ask for me to customize it to suit their specific classroom needs. If you are interested in this pack, check it out here at my Teachers Pay Teachers Store. In addition to the OWL folder cover sheets and the Week in Review page, there are also 12 notes to send home to parents about common progress monitoring tests.
