June Currently!

June 2, 2015 By fancyfreein4th

Happy June! I am so excited to link up with Farley for this month’s Currently!  Here goes:
Listening: We started Friends from the beginning and it is so amazing to relive these episodes!  And the fashion!!! Amazing.

Loving: My husband and I are in a fancy-schmany supper club with 4 other couples. Each couple hosts once a year and they cook a gourmet meal with everything from scratch.  We all dress to the nines, send invitations and each meal has a secret theme.  We have hosted 4 times, this past Saturday being our 4th.  Our theme was Clue- like the board game. Each course was inspired by one of the suspects. We have planned for this for MONTHS and the evening went PERFECT! We transformed our backyard into a study…

Colonel Mustard: pastrami on rye with 2 kinds of mustard, picked onions and radish from our garden.  We made the pastrami, the bread AND the mustard! Reverend Green: English pea soup with local ricotta and proscuitto. Mrs. Peacock: Beet dough ravioli, stuffed with peas and goat cheese. With a homemade mint and walnut pesto.  Mr. White: Steamed halibut on a ginger and lemongrass Thai broth.

Miss Scarlet: Sous Vide Filet on a carrot puree, with dehydrated beef strand and cilantro salad and red wine sauce. Mr. Plum: a roasted plum and cardamom ice cream with a chocolate tulle.

Thinking: We have these monthly reading campaigns at my school 3 times a year. Each grade level competes for the most AR points. We win a golden book trophy and some sort of party. We won the 2nd campaign this school year in February with 400+ AR points.  This month my kids were committed to doubling our last score and they did it! They read a combined 972 AR points in just the month of May! 3 kids read 100 points on their own!!! Can’t wait to celebrate with my class on their hard work!!!

Wanting: Sushi… I just don’t want to think about cooking for a little while!

Needing: a few Father’s Day gifts…. I am kind of stumped on this one and am clinging to the hopes of finding something on Amazon Prime!

Summer Lovin’: Our July is stacked with trips. We are road tripping to Oregon with my brother & SIL, his triplets and our 2 littles.   Our dad lives there and my sister just had her first baby. We are staying a little over a week and it is always a fun time!  Then there is Vegas for the TpT Conference! It’s my first time going, I am nervous but excited. (Leave a comment if you are going too!). Finally, we have a family beach house that I cannot wait for! I love beach living!

I can’t wait to see what you all currently have going on. Be sure to check out how you can help Farley raise money for her beloved local town Weatherley!

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
