NOUNS FREEBIE! Beyond Person, Place and Thing

August 29, 2012 By fancyfreein4th

Our first grammar lesson this year was Nouns.  The students remembered that nouns were a Person, Place, Thing or Idea… but when it came to Proper Nouns vs. Common Nouns and Abstract Nouns vs. Concrete Nouns they had trouble differentiating. I made two different Noun Sorts to help reinforce this standard. You can grab them here. This is a great activity for Partner Work, Center Time or Homework.
This is what they look like….

Grab them free here! I hope they help your class get to know Nouns a little better!

You should also check out one of my FAVORITE teacher bloggers, Tonya’s Treats for Teachers site. She is having a HUGE 500 follower giveaway that will blow your socks off!

Thanks for sharing! My class is just starting to review and learn nouns! These will help, I'm thinking of using it as a game where the students draw a noun and have to put it in the correct column!

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
