Place Value through the Thousands!

September 11, 2012 By fancyfreein4th

I have had a lot of success with my Place Value Through the Millions set that I blogged about a couple of weeks ago.  Since then, I have been emailed, received blog comments and users on TpT have asked me to create a similar resource but instead of going to the millions, I stop at the thousands.  Well, ask and you shall receive! Here is the Place Value Through the Thousands Pack!

2 word sorts that has the student or pair find and arrange each number example in Standard, Word and Expanded Form. Great for Parter Practice or Center Work!

A brief introduction into rounding to get the ball rolling… great for whole group or center work.
Write in the missing commas. Kids start to engage with numbers, commas and periods.
My class loved this dice game with place value! The begged to play it again!

My students also loved this game!

Some cute posters to reinforce the academic vocabulary- add it to your math word wall or bulletin board!

A form to easily review this concept everyday!
This lets the students engage with the content a little more. Great for centers- just place in a clear plastic sleeve and have them write on it with an expo marker and they can reuse it. This is also useful for tutoring!

and of course some CUTE hunting to make your already fabulous classroom look even more awesome!
I hope this helps all you 3rd grade teachers out there!  Check it out at my TpT store– on sale until Friday!

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
