Reindeer Remainder & Cyber Monday

November 28, 2013 By fancyfreein4th

I am so happy to share my new unit with you all! Remainder Reindeer is a great mini unit that will reinforce division concepts in a fun and festive way. Your students will be engaged and challenged with these activities.

 Included in this pack are:

7 Math Posters and teaching tools
I used the divisibility foldable last year and the students referenced it all year! I love seeing them use their notes! The posters are perfect for your Math Word Wall or to add to a your bulletin board. I especially love the reindeer Exit Slips!
These can be used all season because they are so darn cute. If you haven’t used Exit Slips they are a great way to gauge who needs extra help, what specific concerns and questions are out their and they aid in helping as you differentiate your instruction for your kiddos!
All you do is pass them out at the end of an activity or lesson and there are sentence stems on their to guide the students to share their thoughts.
I have 2 Math Centers in this set
Reindeer Games is sure to be a hit!

Rudolph’s Remainder Race has 2 versions. Once is simple division with remainders, and the other asks for the students to do a two-step equation (multiply first and then divide). I did an activity similar to this in a CCSS math workshop and the teachers that were their did not want to stop playing! We joked about bringing it into the teacher’s lounge at lunch to play.

Next are 2 activities that can be done individually or collaboratively, in partners.

Santa’s Planning Page encourages them to defend their findings and explain their reasoning.
My students love, Love, LOVE to cut and glue in math rather than use a mere pencil and paper.  I created this activity to be engage them and categorize examples and non examples of different equations. They will want to use their divisibility foldable for this.

Last, but not least are the word problems.  This can be used as an individual formative assessment or as homework. There are 6 festive word problems that start simple and grow in complexity.
Answer keys are included for each activity!
The best part about finishing this pack today is that it is all ready for the CYBER MONDAY SALE on TpT!
All of my products will be on sale! I don’t know about you guys, but I have a mile long wishlist in my TpT cart! You can add this unit to your wishlist by going here!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am so grateful for this blogging community.

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
