What I’m Pinning Wednesday

July 11, 2012 By fancyfreein4th

Summer is flying by! I am so inspired by the many teachers who blog and pin out there! It keeps me focused for next school year. Here are my top 3 teacher finds for this week’s linky party hosted by Laura from Kinder Kraziness.
1) When I saw these I fell in love. Whole Class Journals! I went out yesterday and bought notebooks and labels to start making these. Check out how the amazing Ms. Emily uses these journals in her class. Basically, each notebook has a topic and directions on the front. Each student gets to choose which one they want to respond to during their writing center work time.  I especially love Emily’s sticker idea. Once the student completes the prompt, they choose a sticker and add it to the cover- this lets the teacher know how many students have written in that particular notebook. I will be posting my version of these classroom notebooks soon. Thanks again Emily for the Pinspiration!

2) This pin is an easy one to recreate but a necessary one. I hate having a cluttered desk! So, I am shopping around for the cheapest container around…. Any of you know where I can find something like this for under $10?

3) This is a cute water cycle activity that I think would be really engaging and allow the students to review the information in an exciting way. Check it out here: Watercycle Bracelet

This last pin isn’t educational in the least, BUT a good tidbit for those in the Pinterest World.  Tell your husband, or boyfriend or significant other (or tell your best friend to tell them) to look at your Pinterest page when wondering what to get you for your anniversary or birthday.  My amazing husband gave me a ring that I pinned awhile ago for our 3 year (crystal) anniversary! It felt as though Santa himself had come!
See you all tomorrow! Can’t wait to see what others have pinned today.

I pinned those whole class journals as well! I was thinking about having the kids skip a page so they could read through the other entries and write comments to each other. I hadn't heard about the sticker ideas though. I love that!

My kiddos love the water cycle bracelet. I made a little book to go along with it so they are writing about each step. There are several cute songs about the water cycle too! =)

I am happy to be your newest follower. I would love for you to hop over and visit me when you get the chance.

Love the whole class notebooks idea. I am going to incorporate those into my classroom through the use of literacy bags! Thanks for sharing.

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
