Winter Grams!

December 28, 2015 By fancyfreein4th

Happy Winter Break everyone! I am so glad to have this time for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. Last week was a wild one, with parent-teacher conferences and report cards coinciding with the week before break. We had a student free day on Monday and the rest of the week was modified.  To kick off coming back from break we are… Read More

Punctuation Matters and an iPad Giveaway!

Punctuation Matters and an iPad Giveaway!

August 3, 2015 By fancyfreein4th

The Teachers Pay Teachers Facebook Page shared this image last week proving how important correct grammar is. Isn’t it hilarious? The reason I think it is so funny, is because of the image it draws in my mind. Well, this got me thinking… I thought that my class would LOVE an activity like this where they can giggle about the mistake,… Read More

Prefix Pockets

Prefix Pockets

June 14, 2015 By fancyfreein4th

As I reflect over my teaching this past school year, there are many things to celebrate, but also ways I want to improve upon.  I noticed that my students struggle with vocabulary, especially in nonfiction text.  I have shared in the past how I focus and incorporate root words into our ELA block using a circle map Frayer model…. Figurative Language 3D Heart Craftivity

Figurative Language 3D Heart Craftivity

January 12, 2015 By fancyfreein4th

I reviewed Figurative Language with my class the week before we went on Winter Break and they loved it. They confused metaphors with similes as well as hyperboles with idioms.  Creating something new for figurative language has been on my radar for awhile because I have second language learners.  I already have a great, hot selling product called Figurative Language… Read More

Chalkboard Bulletin Board Bunting Signs

Chalkboard Bulletin Board Bunting Signs

August 21, 2014 By fancyfreein4th

I don’t know about you… but this year I decided that I was tired of using the precut letters from the teacher supply store to label my cute bulletin boards. ESPECIALLY after seeing so many cute bulletin board letters from my teacher blogger friends on instagram. So, late last night (sorry Honey!) I decided to create my own Chalkboard Bulletin… Read More

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
