Punctuation Matters and an iPad Giveaway!

August 3, 2015 By fancyfreein4th

The Teachers Pay Teachers Facebook Page shared this image last week proving how important correct grammar is.

Isn’t it hilarious? The reason I think it is so funny, is because of the image it draws in my mind. Well, this got me thinking… I thought that my class would LOVE an activity like this where they can giggle about the mistake, draw what comes into their minds and then correct it!

And so Punctuation Matters was created!
I figured this would be great for Monday Mornings when they are tired from the weekend.  This would get them engaged instantly! There are 20 different silly sentences that have incorrect or missing punctuation. They are to draw what the sentence sounds like, edit it and draw a picture of what it actually says when correctly punctuated.
Also included are 8 punctuation posters to have around as a reference tool all year!
This would also make an adorably funny bulletin board, so I created a larger polaroid where students can draw their favorite sentence that was covered, or  create their own!  Also included is an adorable Chalk Board Themed bunting.

Anything that makes learning fun, a little ridiculous but covers a standard is sure to be a great lesson!
Grab this goodie here for 28% off today and tomorrow during the TpT Back to School Sale. Everything in my store is marked wayyyy down. Even if you don’t start school until September, like me, this is a great time to score some awesome products and save money in the process.
BTW- Want to win an iPad air? Who doesn’t!?
The iTeach blogs are giving away brand new iPad Air 2, with a cute owl themed case, stylus pen, and $15 gift card to iTunes. You can enter by heading over to their site!

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
