Egg-cellent Improper Fraction Match Up!

March 25, 2014 By fancyfreein4th

I am excited to share my new math center, perfect for spring!  Egg-cellent Improper Fraction Match Up!

As I was perusing the Dollar Section of Target (aka heaven on earth) I noticed these cute foam cracked egg cut outs. They came in a set of 8 for a buck and I had to have them even before I knew what I was going to do with them.

Well, I just completed a new CCSS equivalent fractions unit that our district created and part of it was recognizing mixed number and improper fraction equivalency.  So, since it is spring, and Easter is almost upon us, AND my kiddos need some more practice, I  created this little math center to help reinforce the concepts.

Essentially, students are asked to match up the improper fraction top half of the egg with its mixed number equivalent.

I will use the foam cut outs but for those who aren’t able to get these at their local Target, I included them.

There are 15 in total and they can record their findings on this sheet:
Another option is to have them do this as an assessment. They can cut, color and glue their matches on construction paper to make a SUPER Spring-y and C-U-T-E bulletin board.
Grab this math center at my TpT store now for $1.50!  What a steal! Your class will love it! I will post pics later this week of my class enjoying this activity!

Until then….
