Meet the Teacher Blogger Linky!

August 15, 2014 By fancyfreein4th

Happy Friday! Today I am linking up with the wonderful Stephanie from Flying into First who is hosting the Meet the Teacher Blogger linky party.  I have LOVED getting to know some more about my fellow blogging friends with this link up.  Here is a little bit about me….

My Name is Layla.  I turned the big 3-0 this July.  This is my 8th year teaching. I have taught grades 4th-7th including a combo class. The challenge of a combo class was not as scary as 7th graders! I have been displaced and moved all around the district and this coming year I am nervous  excited to start at a new school teaching my favorite grade- 4th!

This past 4th of July, my husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary… we are both red heads 🙂 and he is a teacher too!

My husband is a teacher too! Sadly, I'm the only redhead so I don't think ginger babies are in our future….but I hope so!!!!

I love the whole class journals! Unfortunately I am a pull-out small group teacher so I don't have a whole class to journal 🙁

Hey there, I'm in So Cal too! AND I love red heads. True story, my whole life I've wished I was one and I've been known to date them. Sadly brown hair+brown hair = brown hair for my babies because I ended up marrying someone with the exact same hair color as me. Although, secretly I'm hoping there's some sort of genetic fluke and I get my ginger baby.

You are such an adorable family of gingers! And just to tell you a little secret (since I'm teaching 2nd grade this year), 4th grade is my favorite, too!

There’s so much advice I would tell first year- There’s so much advice I would tell first year- teacher-me…. Especially after the last (almost) 2 years of teaching; barely afloat. This year is so hard. I have to stop regularly and tell my student teacher, “it’s never been like this”. But to my core, it’s always been- children first, relationships first, or nothing else matters. Though this year is tough in new ways, there’s still much hope and laughter each day. Thanks @eveleon26 for reminding me of my first, wonderful year of teaching- so I can bring that energy, excitement each day- no matter the circumstance. For all of my teacher friends out there, I see you- I know it’s hard- and I’m grateful for you. (P.S-it’s almost winter break, you got this!) #tiredteacher #cleareyesfullheartscantlose
